Sunday 21st September 2014 – Kim and John with their 2 dogs;
Our first visit to Suffolk and found the County and the people very welcoming. Deban barn has all that you need and the extra
touches are so thoughtful. Did not expect the breakfast basket and the extra touches including dog tags – great idea especially for two naughty terriers! Found the pubs and shops very dog friendly which is a priority for us. Not cold enough for the wood burner so might have to make a Winter visit! Lay out is great – enough privacy but a community feel at the same time – not easily achieved. Thank you for a great holiday.

Sunday 7th September 2014 – Sarah and Terry with Tilly the dog;
Our first visit but not our last. The rural idyll has captivated us and we have had a superb week. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail from Carl and the team is exceptional. We have enjoyed the friendliness of all we have met and Suffolk is certainly a county of dog lovers who have welcomed us and our dog warmly and sincerely. Worthy of note is Needham lake (this was Tilly’s contribution) The Victoria Pub at Earl Soham for warm welcome and good food, Alder Carr Farmshop – dogs welcome in the courtyard whilst you eat lunch etc. and the Dog at Grundisburgh.. To say we are on our 5th visit to Woodfarm Barns… says it all! Having stayed at the Granary x2 and the Farmhouse x1 and Deban Barn x1, we are working our way around all of the wonderful barns! Our dog Alice loved the garden as well as the walks to the church and over the fields every morning. A visit to Southwold was fun, the Lord Nelson for a pint of Adnams is a must. Returned to the barn for a snooze and then we had a date at the ‘Pop up’ Restaurant in the Farmhouse; 7 courses of outstanding food! Carl your vision of making guests feel so welcome and offering another dimension to their say never ceases to amaze us. To walk back from the Farmhouse along the path listening to the waterfall with a full moon showing the way to gipping barn is a memory we will always cherish. Beautiful break in stunning accommodation. This was our first visit to Suffolk and the Barns and we were totally blown away with the beauty of both. We had some lovely days out, and some delightful walks with the dog. The fresh air and walks have really knocked her out as she is always the last one up in the morning! This never happens at home! We will definitely be back again soon and will recommend to our friends and family. Thank you for a delightful stay.

Friday 8th August 2014 – Rebecca and David with Dougal the dog;
This is our first visit to Suffolk having driven the long drive from Edinburgh with Dougal. Gipping barn really does look and feel even more amazing than it looks on the website pics. A Summer stay meant we didn’t need the underfloor heating. Carl has thought of everything and the most important thing.. Dougal was safe and happy in the enclosed spacious garden and this meant we were happy and unstressed. My husband said ‘idyllic’ and this sums it up. A beautiful and peaceful place. With plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Loved it and will recommend!

Friday 1st August 2014 – Peter and Maureen with Moyna the dog;
Wow! What a fantastic place to stay. Really loved all the interior design and the gardens – so much thought has gone into making Woodfarm Barns an extra special place to stay. Brilliant too to have a dog safe garden where Moyna could ‘chill out’! Carl is the perfect host, not in your face but there if you need him. Lots of lovely places to visit in the area. Our favourite; fish and chips on Dunwich Beach and also lovely meals at the Four Horseshoes. Going home relaxed and ready to book a return visit.

We have enjoyed a lovely relaxing start to our holiday. Our dogs made themselves at home straight away and really appreciated the private garden which was great for letting them out when they needed to go out. All Saints Church at Crowfield is a beautiful Wooden structure which is well worth the short walk. Dunwich Beach was lovely and Alice and logan enjoyed chasing their ball in the sea. Lavenham is full of character and we enjoyed a good lunch at the Swan which is dog friendly. Drove to Long Melford and visited the church there. Then visited Clare which has something for everyone. Thank you Carl and Alex

Friday 14th March 2014 – Bernadette with Otis & Tiny the dogs;

This was my first visit to the Granary and definitely not the last. I felt so at home here. Going out and about was wonderful but coming back was a joy. This was also my first visit to Suffolk. I was bowled over by how pretty it is, peaceful and laid back. Locally I went next door to Suffolk Surplus and came away with a bow-fronted tall-boy. I took the dogs to Southwold and they had a wonderful time on the enormous beach. Carl is a wonderful host but not intrusive. He has an absolute gem here anbd I wouldf recommend a stay here to anyone and defy them not to enjoy it! My dogs loved it too. They have never had so many walks. Our every day dog walk was next door to Crowfield Church and a yomp across the fields. Thank you so much Carl for a wonderful, ‘lives up to expectations’ break away from my busy life xx

Sunday 13th April 2014 – Kelly & Lee with Ellie the dog;

Carl was very welcoming with informed us where to go, good walks etc. Much appreciated. Good pub/ restaurants are the Crown at Bildeston and the Anchor at Walberswick. Dunwich is the place to go with dogs; through the heather and along the beach – really good. Really recommend the Black Horse in Thorndon. All in all, a lovely few days

Friday 28th March 2014 – Laura with Liston the dog;

We’ve had a lovely week here and felt really relaxed. We’ve been out every day. The short walk to the church and back is great. Stonham Barns has a cafe’ there that does great smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The Beauty Barn is great also. My dog fell asleep whilst I was pampered. A must is Dedham, which is very pretty with great walks. The coast is a short drive away, Dunwich Heath is worth finding, so too is Minsmere followed by fish n chips at Aldeburgh. Will come back 🙂

Aldeburgh is well worth visiting, a real charming seaside place. So glad this place is on the internet. Thank you Carl for a relaxing break in a well-equipped, luxury holiday cottage

Friday 7th March 2014 – Neil & Sarah with Alice the dog;

The fact that we are on our 4th visit to Woodfarm Barns…. says it all!; 🙂 On our first visit to the Granary in September 2011 we watched the oak beams being delivered for the other barns. Having stayed in the Granary again and also Woodfarm House with the family we decided this time to try Deben Barn. It’s cosy and warm and you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in the door. Alice our Golden Retriever loves the garden, her usual walk down to the churchyard and then on the footpath across the field to a pool for her morning swim!! The weather has been amazing and we have walked and walked. We found that you can park at the harbour in Southwold and then walk over the bridge to Walberswick. It takes about 40-50 minutes, then you can walk over the sand dunes and along the beach for miles. Lunch served at 3pm at the Anchor Inn was a bonus and they welcome dogs. Thank you Carl as usual and we will be back later in the year x PS – didn’t mean to write another novel in your book but get carried away! xx

Friday 7th March 2014 – Emma & Catherine with Alfie and Ollie the dogs;

We have had such a wonderful time at Alde Barn. It has been peaceful and relaxing and the weather has been surprisingly good. We could not have hoped for a better week here. The dogs have really enjoyed it also. They have loved the chance to swim in the sea and will be sad to go. We have all enjoyed the woodburner and the lovely barn. Wonderful 🙂 Carl was really friendly and helpful; we will definitely be back. See you soon

Monday 24th February 2014 – Paul & Naomi and the dog;

What an amazing barn conversion. Totally loved reading about it’s building work and painstaking restoration. The finished article is a real credit to those involved. It’s cosy, luxurious, warm and comfy and VERY VERY beautiful! Spent a gorgeous day in Southwold with our little dog; the beach was lovely and very well maintained. We went to Lavenham and OMG, if you like something quaint and out of the ordinary you absolutely must go there! Best cream tea in the world at Chilli & Chives in the High Street. Freshly baked scones with lashings of fresh whipped cream and raspberry jam to die for! Some beautiful churches including Crowfield and Blythburgh. The barn was a fantastic find – we couldn’t have asked for more – we will be back soon! Thanks and love

Friday 14th February 2014 – Lynda & Mick with Bracken and Saffie the dogs;

What a gorgeous barn and a lovely warm welcome from Carl. Everything we expected and more. Beautiful area, amazing beaches. Must see’s are Lavenham for the quirky buildings and can strongly recommend the Swan for a fabulous afternoon tea. A walk up the lane to the beautiful church has to be done. Southwold is fantastic; like stepping back in time, with pastel coloured beach huts and traditional pier with lovely shops. Aldeburgh Beach – lovely pebbly beach – dog friendly at this time of year. We ate at the Four Horseshoes (dog-friendly) and The Highwayman – recommend both. Would love to come back xx

Sunday 23rd February 2014 – Claire and Bill with Hudson the dog;

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. It is so cosy with the lovely log burner. We had lovely meals at the Four Horseshoes and Anchor in Walberswick and particularly on Friday at 745pm! Great beach walks at Southwold and Walberswick with the dog; his first time at a beach; how he enjoyed it!

Sunday 23rd February 2014 – Steve & Mandy with Sammie the dog;

Fantastic! Great welcome, relaxing 🙂 beautifully quiet but the birdsong was lovely; Robins, Greenfinches and Great Tits so far. Brilliant little touches all the way round such as bacon, butter and milk in the fridge, a lovely welcome basket of biscuits, eggs, fruit, mushrooms and tomatoes, coffee, tea, sugar, shampoo and shower gel all here! We visited Aldeburgh and highly recommend the fish & chips and Deli there 🙂 – Bury St Edmunds, Needham Market, Lavenham, Debenham (Fish & Chips handy for your first night here) Comfy, cosy and warm – just the place to unwind. We enjoyed waking up to birdsong every morning. Reluctantly packing but still have lots of great memories to take away with us. Many thanks Carl, you’re a star! xx

Sunday 23rd February 2014 – David and Anna with Bugsy the dog;

Really lovely weekend – We just chilled and enjoyed the romance of our surroundings. Went into Southwold for a fresh fish dinner and a stroll around the shops. Lovely! We would recommend the Crown for really good pub grub and the beach at Dunwich for raw, natural beauty. Bugsy our Pug Cross loved running in and out of the sea and even though it was Saturday we were almost the only ones there. A great base for us and the dog to explore Suffolk xxx

Sunday 2nd February 2014 – Kevin and Teri with Bosun the Irish Terrier;

Thank you for a wonderful welcome and the great comforts and hospitality of Stour Barn. The attention to detail with the welcome pack, loo roll, shower etc so often not available in dog-friendly self-catering dwellings made life so much easier. We enjoyed it tremendously and will be back to visit the delights of Suffolk again. These barns will be our first choice of visit. Thank you again

Monday 20th January 2014 – Peter and Agatha with Santos and Lyka the dogs;

Thank you for creating such a beautifully unique escape. The dogs loved the local walks, in fact we all loved it so much we got lost:-) This was just the kind of retreat from London we were hoping to experience. A lot of thought, creativity and detail has gone into the design of this beautiful barn. We will most definitely be back this summer. Thank you again for the delightful hamper and fresh produce xx

Monday 27th January 2014 – Jo and Tony with Motley the dog;

Short break away from home and work. Fantastic place to unwind. Easy to walk our dog along the roads despite all the rain and flooded footpaths. Having a fenced garden was a bonus for the dog and the barn was snug and practical. The Indian takeaway delivered which was a bonus too and we also visited the Deli at the Chilli Farm. Thank you Carl, back in the summer

Monday 20th January 2014 – Nicholas and Steve with Bertie and George the dogs;

Warmly welcomed by Carl and impressed by the standard of the barn. Warm in the barn too; the heating was so efficient we had to turn it down and never needed the woodburner! Luxurious! The dogs enjoyed themselves and we were glad of the 100% enclosed garden. We visited Rendlesham, Dunwich and Tunstall for walks and also discovered Kings forest. Most days were spent visiting favourite places along the coast from Orford to Southwold. Thanks also for the welcome basket, particularly the delicious eggs. Thanks to Carl and his team for an enjoyable winter break with the dogs

A heart-warming, stress-busting week made all the more special by the little touches like the welcome hamper, the Christmas tree and decorations and Carl’s personal welcome, but especially his “absolutely nothing is too much trouble” personality. Everything has been thought of and we wanted for nothing during our stay. Great days out with the dogs and romantic evenings in reminded us how important it is to take time out and share these special breaks at these special places. Woodfarm Barns is one of those places. Great holiday

Friday 29th November 2013 – Sue and Tony with Harvey & Billie the dogs;

Have had a very enjoyable mid-week break, bought for us by my daughter who also stayed in Alde Barn. Lovely home from home comforts. Carl has thought of everything; lovely welcome basket, comfortable bed, candles and best of all, underfloor heating. I don’t know who liked that more; us or our two dogs! Loved the enclosed garden; great for the dogs. Log fire made it really cottagey. Had a great day out at Minsmere beach near Dunwich. Very dog-friendly and they loved it. Only negative we can say is that we weren’t here long enough! We will definitely tell all our friends about these lovely barns and be returning very soon. Seems a great place to conme and spend Christmas with all the family. Thanks Carl

Monday 4th November 2013 – Lindsey and Joanne with Missy the dog;

This is our second trip to stay in Gipping Barn and again it didn’t disappoint, living up to our high expectations from our first visit. It is really peaceful and relaxing and Carl is the ideal host. We split our time between the local area and the coast. We visited Eye, which has a small chocolate shop, which we recommend. We took a trip to Southwold for coffee on the pier and a stroll along the beach, then on to Aldeburgh where we successfully completed a treasure trail around the town, followed by a bag of chips on the sea front. Another great weekend, which ‘Missy’ our dog loved too! No doubt we will be back again!

Friday 4th October 2013 – Penelope and Richard with Murphy and Bob the dogs;

Loved the barn; perfect for a few days escape from work, London commute etc. Our dogs loved the walks and are now going home for a rest. Walked from Dunwich to Winchelsea and back! We will definitely be back and recommend to others

Sunday 6th October 2013 – Vicky and Andy;

Lovely luxurious place to relax and sleep and take a well-earned break! Recommend the farmers market at Snape (1st Saturday of the month) Great atmosphere and lots of local produce to try before you buy! Likewise, stock up on goodies from Alder Carr Farm – the best ice cream we have ever tasted! Only downside is not having enough time to do more walking, cycling and eating 🙂 We will have to come back!

Friday 4th October 2013 – Dave and Caroline;

Great week (incredible weather!) The Granary was perfect for the two of us (plus dog!) Lovely breakfast hamper and great welcome from Carl (wine a nice touch) Recommend Emmetts at Peasenhall (Deli and Cafe) Alder Carr Farm Shop, Aldeburgh, Southwold and Walberswick. Would have loved to have tried 745pm but David was on holiday. Will have to come again (Hooray!)

Sunday 6th October 2013 – Ben and Emma with Bella the dog;

We came here for a relaxing break and that is exactly what we got! We took our dog for a walk and went for a bike ride but mostly we stayed in and enjoyed the quietness of the surroundings. This is a gorgeous place to stay and to get away from every day life. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending to family and friends!

Monday 7th October 2013 – Lee, Jo, Sean and Kellie, with Blue the dog;

Another great weekend and Woodfarm Barns! The farmhouse is beautiful and such a comfy, luxurious home. As usual Carl has thought of everything we could possibly need. After purchasing some meat from Neaves of Debenham, we would seriously recommend to visit them as we had steaks and bacon cured in Guiness and Treacle and a great leg of lamb for Sunday lunch. The Aga was an experience but produced some great meals to enjoy in the dining room! 2 trips to the Deli at the Chilli Farm to purchase brownies to die for and mouth-watering Binham Blue cheese. We had a lovely afternoon stroll round Aldeburgh and the local dog walks were enjoyed by humans and canine. All in all a perfect weekend and we’ll be back for more! Thank you Carl. See you next year. PS – sorry about all the additional more than usual beer and wine bottles for recycling!

Friday 20th September 2013 – Marilyn and Rob with Bella & Rosie the dogs;

A lovely cosy cottage with a good private garden for the dogs. A warm and peaceful retreat in which to unwind. Thank you!

Sunday 22nd September 2013 – Stephanie and John with Izzie the dog:

Great place to stay. Loved the breakfast and provisions. Framlingham has a great Deli and a great market on Saturdays to pick up lovely food and drink for a night in. Also great pubs and interesting shops. We loved the walks and so did the dog

Sunday 22nd September 2013 – Julian and Helen with Millie & Del the dogs;

Just finished a lovely week in this cottage for our first visit to Suffolk. Days spent exploring the local area and cosy evenings spent in the cottage, burning a log or two! What sets this apart from others is the lovely warm welcome, a breakfast basket that sets you up for your stay, smoked bacon was yummy……… Had to buy more from the farm shop. 🙂 Bottle of wine left for you to buy is a nice touch and it tasted good too! The folders with local information are really well put together…. Best we’ve had in any cottage and helped us make the most of our week here. For dog walkers there’s the “50 Walks in Suffolk” Book; The Constable walk is a must as it takes you through some stunning countryside. Some of the things we enjoyed over the week as follows: Lavenham, quaint old village with crooked houses, worth a look. Framlingham Castle is a must to visit. Dog friendly and amazing views from the top. Circular walk around the Mere with the dog too. Southwold with its coloured beach huts. The Southwold walk in the book takes you past the ferry and the local fishing area. Aldeburgh worth a visit for the fish and chips. The Mill Inn is very friendly with biscuits for the dog too. The Red Lion pub in East Bergholt is dog friendly and serves a nice lunch. Biscuits for the dog here too! The Victoria in Earl Soham, dog friendly again and a nice lunch. The Four Horseshoes in Thornham Magna – Lovely old pub; dog friendly and nice food. All in all we had a fantastic week here and would recommend to others and come back. Thanks. PS – Would recommend frequenting the local farm shops as we picked up some awesome food from them!

Monday 23rd September 2013 – Nick and Alice with Charlie the Bulldog;

Had a lovely few days, didn’t want to leave! We were lacking nothing and now don’t want to go home. Cannot fault the gorgeous cottage. Recommended by family and we were not disappointed. Charlie our bulldog loved it too.
Such a lovely stay thank you!

Monday 23rd September 2013 – Nigel and Elaine with Max the dog;

What a wonderful holiday cottage. From the moment we got here it was relaxing and Carl was very welcoming. The breakfast pack was great! Just what we needed after busy jobs in London. Long dog walks, used the bikes to cycle to the Chilli Farm and had a lovely meal at the Four Horseshoes. Would definitely recommend this holiday to family and friends. Thanks again xxx

Monday 23rd September 2013 – Dawn and Paul with Sandy & Scamp the dogs;

Our 4th holiday at Woodfarm Barns and our 3rd time staying in the Granary. The whole site is brilliantly presented and so many important details have been considered. We come for the calm and relaxing atmosphere and because we enjoy the luxury holiday accommodation but can still bring our two dogs. Dunwich and Walberswick offer great walks along the coastline and the dogs are allowed on the beach too! Thank you for yet another lovely break. We are planning our next holiday soon!

Monday 23rd September 2013 – Jan and Mike with Ruby the dog;

We had a wonderful few days holiday here. Carl really has thought of everything. A fab place to visit is Aldeburgh (A very classy seaside) Had an excellent meal in the Anchor in Woodbridge. Many thanks for your hospitality. Our dog Ruby loved the enclosed garden as well xxx

Monday 23rd September 2013 – John and Sylvia with Jasper the Bulldog:

Reading through the comments from previous guests we can do no more than agree with everything that has been written before. The nicest holiday cottage that we have stayed in. Carl you should be very proud of what you have achieved here. We really couldn’t criticise anything. We ate at the Four Horseshoes – excellent. We visited lots of places during the week and enjoyed them all. Luxury accommodation, welcome pack, quiet and peaceful location; all excellent, what more can we say? Difficult to improve on 10/10

Sunday 29th September 2013 – Colin and Sharon with Megan and Finaud the dogs;

Well, we promised we’d be back with the dogs and here we are 13 months later. Still the same warm welcome and same helpful Carl. We were struck immediately upon arrival by how different the whole place looks after another year to mature. We thought last year that it would be hard to improve on that but well done Carl, you’ve managed it. And finally yes, we will be back. Thanks again

Friday 13th September 2013 – Dave, Sarah & Barney the dog:

Had a really nice 4 days. The barn was comfortable and cosy and Carl is a great host. We went to Aldeburgh and Southwold, both lovely seaside towns and there are loads of great walks right on the doorstep. The Victoria in Earl Soham is a nice pub and very dog friendly. Thanks for a great holiday

We have had a wonderful few days holiday and absolutely love the countryside here in Suffolk. The enclosed garden was just perfect for our dogs. Enjoyed Lavenham, Adleburgh, Southwold and Long Melford. Probably loved the walks in the local vicinity the most – so tranquil and peaceful. Crowfield Church is magnificent. We just wish we were still here for the flower show this weekend. Many thanks for your warm welcome Carl and the basket of goodies! A truly lovely place in a wonderful setting!

Monday 12th August 2013 – Marie and Peter with Nellie & O’Malley the dogs:

Lovely comfortable cottage in superb surroundings. Great walks for our two dogs. Recommend the Emmerdale farmshop at Yoxford, the butchers is open on a Sunday. Great place to visit is Dunwich – circular dog walks through gorse and heather with the pebbly beach just a stroll away. Thought the idea of extra wine in the kitchen a great idea – hic! The enclosed garden truly was, as our Houdini dogs didn’t get out! Loved the little church down the road; a good leg-stretch with the dogs first thing in the morning. Will definitely recommend the Woodfarm complex to others coming to Suffolk for a holiday. Thanks very much for a great romantic anniversary weekend

This has to be one of the best mini-breaks we have had. Neither of us had been to Suffolk before but wow! We want to live here! We took Carl’s excellent local guide folder out in the car with us and explored. A must is Southwold and Aldeburgh. We visited twice and found everyone friendly and welcoming to our dogs. We also went back in time and visited Lavenham. We have both been impressed with the barn and general set up. Carl was very helpful and always at the end of the phone. Loved the breakfast basket on arrival too. Thank you for our holiday Carl and we will be back, hopefully in the near future
